The individual posters proliferated over most of a year and at least 5 different threads (back then, the RPG.net board capped threads at 100 posts). I don’t remember who compiled them into a gif, but that person deserved a Nobel Prize.

None really. I can’t even remember how I found RPG.net, but it wasn’t for games. I lurked their Tangency and TV/Movie boards for quite some time, chiming in on various threads as they caught my interest.
